What is investment gold?

Investment gold is physical gold in the form of bars or coins that is purchased solely for the purpose of preserving or increasing its value. Unlike gold jewellery, which carries manufacturing and design costs, investment gold is sold at prices close to the market value of the pure metal.

According to the legislation of the Republic of Serbia, investment gold that meets the prescribed criteria is exempt from value-added tax. This means that when you purchase it, you do not pay an additional 20% VAT, which makes investment gold significantly more favourable compared to other forms of investment in this metal.

For a gold product to have the status of investment gold, it must meet certain conditions. Gold bars must have a purity of at least 995/1000 (23.88 carats). Gold coins must have been minted after 1800, have a purity of at least 900/1000 (21.6 carats) and have the status of legal tender in their country of origin.

Zašto ulagati u zlato?

Gold is the only asset that has never lost all of its value. While currencies collapse, companies go bankrupt and property loses value during crises, gold retains its purchasing power through generations. Over the last few decades, the Serbian dinar has lost a significant portion of its value, while the price of gold has increased several-fold.

Central banks around the world, including the National Bank of Serbia, are constantly increasing their gold reserves. This is no coincidence – professional capital managers recognise gold as a key element of stability in times of economic uncertainty.

Investing in gold protects against inflation because its value is not dependent on the decisions of governments or central banks. While paper money can be printed in unlimited quantities, the amount of gold on the planet is finite, giving it inherent value.

Investment ducats in our offer

Gold coins represent a special category of investment gold that combines the intrinsic value of the metal with historical significance and high liquidity. In our range, you will find the most sought-after investment gold coins on the Serbian market.

Francis Joseph Ducat It is available in two versions – single (small) and quadruple (large). These coins have been minted by the Austrian Mint, Münze Österreich, since the 19th century and represent a symbol of Central European monetary tradition. The Franz Joseph ducats are the most recognisable gold coins in the Balkans, which guarantees them exceptional liquidity and easy resale.

Vienna Philharmonic The Vienna Philharmonic is the best-selling gold coin in Europe. It has been minted by Münze Österreich since 1989 in a purity of 999.9/1000 (24 carats). We offer it in five denominations: 1 ounce, 1/2 ounce, 1/4 ounce, 1/10 ounce, and 1/25 ounce, allowing for investments tailored to any budget.

Swiss gold coin Helvetia Starting from 20 francs, it represents an excellent choice for those seeking a historical coin with a strong tradition of a neutral Swiss state. A similar role is played by French gold coins – Napoleon III and the 20 Franc Genius, which for centuries were the foundation of the European monetary system.

We particularly highlight Gold coins with Serbian motifs – The White Angel from the Mileševa Monastery and the Mother of God. These gold coins combine investment value with spiritual symbolism, making them ideal gifts for christenings, name days, and other important life events.

Gold bars – a sound investment

Gold bars represent the most direct form of investing in this precious metal. Without the numismatic premium associated with coins, bars offer the maximum amount of gold at the lowest price above the spot value.

All of our gold bars are produced in refineries with the LBMA Good Delivery standard – the highest international certification that guarantees the purity, weight, and origin of gold. The LBMA (London Bullion Market Association) is the umbrella organisation that regulates the global precious metals market, and its standards are recognised worldwide.

Our offering of gold bars encompasses a wide range of weights: from affordable 1g and 2g bars for beginners, through mid-range denominations of 5g, 10g, and 20g, to more serious investments in 50g, 100g, and full 1000g (1kg) bars. For lovers of the troy system, we also offer 1 troy ounce (31.1g) bars.

How to choose the right investment gold?

The choice between bars and coins depends on your investment goals and personal preferences. Gold bars offer a lower premium per gram of gold, which makes them a more cost-effective choice for larger investments. On the other hand, gold coins have greater liquidity, are more recognisable in the market and are easier to sell in smaller quantities.

For beginners, we recommend a combination – a few smaller bars to gradually build up a reserve, and one or two well-known gold coins such as the Franc Joseph or the Philharmonic. This strategy offers both investment efficiency and flexibility should you wish to sell.

Larger investors often choose heavier bars as they carry the lowest premium, but it should be borne in mind that selling one 100g bar means selling the entire investment at once. Diversifying across different weights allows you to cash in only as much as you need.

Storing and protecting investment gold

Correct storage is crucial for preserving the value of your gold. Gold bars come in protective blister packaging with an integrated certificate – never remove them from this packaging as it will reduce their value upon resale.

Store gold coins in their original capsules. Avoid touching them with bare hands, as grease and sweat acids can leave marks on the surface. Use cotton gloves for handling.

For storing a larger quantity of gold, we recommend a high-quality home safe or a bank vault. Regardless of the chosen method, it is important that the gold is protected from moisture, extreme temperatures, and physical damage.
